Raphael & Veronica
Veronica was born in Uruguay in Montevideo on the banks of the Rio de la Plata. Quickly she flew on her own and became passionate about Argentine Tango. After meeting José Artigas, she develops her art and becomes his partner. They then opened their dance school, Chiqué, in Montevideo, which would become the essential Milonga in Uruguay. To deal with the Argentine peso crisis in 2002, then at the height of their art, they shared their lives between Europe and South America, alternating tours in Sweden, Belgium, France, to bring Chiqué to life. Finally they accept the offer of some passionate tangueros from Nîmes and settle there permanently in the south of France to become one of the couple-stars.
Raphael is from Bugey. From an early age he was passionate about nature and the mountains and passed his mountaineering initiator certificate at La Bérarde. With his baccalaureate in his pocket, he hesitates between pursuing a career as a guide or as a researcher. He finally opted for a scientific career which will take him to Norway for his post-doc, then to the USA (North Carolina, Washington State, Arizona), Canada (Quebec, Vancouver), the Netherlands, for his work as director. Imaging scientist for Becton Dickinson.
In 2003 Raphaël started in Argentine Tango, and two years later inevitably met Veronica.
In a relationship since 2006 and married at the Jean-Collet refuge in 2021, Veronica accompanies me in the development of my dance and as for me, introduces her to the mountains, skiing, paragliding...
Since 2021 Veronica has been welcoming you to ValOmbré with all her Latin charm and her little accent that continues to seduce me day after day. On my side from 2023, having put an end to my scientific career, I will return to my first passion which was the mountain in all its forms, support Veronica, and offer you accompaniments, fitness and discoveries of the marvelous Chartreuse massif which amazes us every day.
